Letting go of pain

One thing that I am learning is that the wounds of your past will overtake your present if you don't make peace with them. Why is this so important? Because you can't live the life that Christ has laid out for you, if you are rolling in past hurts. It's like trying to drive a car and looking backwards, you will always crash! Make up in your mind today that you will pray for the spirit of the Lord to help you heal from whatever happened to you and is keeping you prisoner with the past.

Forgiveness is the best gift we can give ourselves! When we forgive someone who has hurt us, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, we have just set ourselves free as well. Contrary to popular belief, that person doesn't suffer the more you are angry with them. They go on living their lives and you are the one left bitter and stuck in the hurt all by yourself. Forgiving them doesn't make it okay what they did, it just makes it okay for you to let go of what they did. The thing that will always help is pray for guidance from Christ. Then you will be able to see the person through love in Christ instead of the action they did. Once you can separate the two, you can begin to heal. Time doesn't always heal all wounds, but love does.
