October 31

It is a personal choice as to how families choose to celebrate October 31. Whether it be a fall festival, trunk or treating, trick or treating, reformation day celebration, all hollows eve party, etc... I'm simply a sinner saved by grace and therefore choose not to judge my neighbor.  I'll leave that to the most high God. Only He knows your heart and intentions in this life. I merely want to show love by educating those of us, including myself, who knew little about reformation day.

for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Luke 6:37

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. Leviticus:19:18

October 31 is reformation day, a liturgical  festival for many Christians. It is a religious holiday celebrated  in remembrance of the reformation lead my Martin Luther. He wrote the 95 theses and posted them on the castle door of the church in Wittenburg, Germany October 31, 1517.  The 95 theses were written to oppose the false doctrines being taught by the church during that time. The church sold  pardons or indulgences in exchange for sins, so that people could get into heaven. Luther stated, "If we sinners were to earn salvation by our own good works and merits, we would be lost and without hope. But through the working of the Holy Spirit, the reformers rediscovered the gospel--The wonderful news that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again to redeem and justify us."

To learn more go here. Or you can always find many sources over the internet.

Take time out to remember the five solas, of the Reformation: by Scripture alone, by grace alone, by Christ alone, by faith alone, and to God be the glory alone. (exert from ondoctrine.com)

Scripture alone-
You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of,
knowing from whom you have learned them,
and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings
which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable
for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:14-17

Grace alone-
But the free gift is not like the offense.
For if by the one man's offense many died,
much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man,
Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
Romans 5:15

Christ alone-
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself as a ransom for all,
the testimony given at the proper time.
1 Timothy 2:5-6

Faith alone-
Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1-2

God be the glory alone-
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?
Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again?
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.
Amen.
Romans 11:33-36
