submit means:
To yield one's opinion to the opinion of authority of another; to be subject; to acquiesce.
To present for the approval, consideration, or decision of another or others.
Whether we know it or not, we all submit to things on a daily basis; the law, our supervisors, retail and restaurant policies, driving, government, etc..etc..
I could go on and on at how many ways we as women, or as a people submit to the smallest things like, taking a number before being seen at the counter, following the rules of the road when driving, being to work when your boss tells you to, etc..
But yet when it comes to our own husbands, we GASPS at the very idea. Submission has absolutely nothing to do with being a slave or servant under someone. It only means that God has established an order for our lives and has laid out in scripture the perfect order of things.
The scriptures asks us to submit:
(To God)
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Job 22:21 Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
(To each other)
1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
(To our spouse)
Ephesians 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:34 But she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
(To change circumstances)
1 Peter 3:1 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,
1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
1 Corinthians 7:14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband.
If we believe in God's word, then we can easily submit to His will for the order of our lives. God is one of love and would never put more on His children than we could handle. He knows the best way for us to live our lives far better than we do. He knew us before we were born and will continue to guide our lives toward righteousness all the days of our lives.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
I understand that this principle may take some time, but trust in the Lord for your progress. Pray that He leads you and guide you in your walk with Him. If we follow after Christ, our lives can have a whole new meaning. We should look at submission as service unto our Lord. Because it's a beautiful thing when our lives line up with the word. And we should always want to please and submit unto our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Oh girl, you are so right and I have so much work that needs to be done in my life where submission is concerned. Not so much with my husband -- but I'd consider my MIL an elder, right? Scream. God help me.
Love,

WE as women have been brought up to believe different than what the word of God teaches us. It will take some time to wash ourselves in Christ of all wordly knowledge. I too have a long way to go in this area. But, I know God will get me there. Be blessed!
Precious sister Valencia,
WELCOME to the study! I pray that the Lord our God will lead you into all truth by the power of His Holy Spirit as you choose to flee from that which is evil and cling to the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is good - for He is God. :-)
Bless you dear one,
Sunny
