Joy of Christ

Many tines once we come to Christ, it can feel as if we have given up so much of the "fun" things we loved to do. I've heard the saying, I'll wait until I'm older to come back to the Lord, but I don't want to give up my "fun" yet. Can I tell you that in Christ there is much joy!! The devil will try to deceive us into thinking that his joy is the best. The devil is a liar! The devil only wants us to destroy ourselves for his amusement. When we drink, smoke, fornicate, or engage in other risky behavior, he laughs knowing that he is killing us slowly but surely. So he fools you into false joy.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

True joy comes from knowing that all is well with your soul. You can breathe fresh air knowing that you are now free from bondage.  You can now have fun that is pure and holy. You can still enjoy sports, shoot pool, dominoes, card games, etc...as long as it is done in fun and fellowship. Who says the devil can take something and make it all bad. We as Christians can also have fun and fellowship without sin involved.

They is much more joy in God than it is in sin! The enemy makes it looks that way to appeal to us, so that we may stray and be tempted by evil lusts of pleasure. So ask yourself, would you rather have the joy that comes from God and live life abundantly or live life in sin knowing that the wages of sin is death? Remeber that God is love and His joy is everlasting!

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Psalms 32:11

What a great post! My brother would've been 39 today and he was always saying that he would settle down and go to church when he was older. He wanted to live life right now. He died when he was 24. There is joy in Christ and the devil does try to steal that joy any way he can. Thank you for sharing!
