necklace scarf DIY

I saw an incredible scarf at a store while shopping and was just about to buy it when I had a notion. Hmmmm, this would make and easy and cheap inexpensive DIY project!! So I ran to Hobby Lobby and found all that I needed for around $3, YEAUUUUH(Regular Show voice)!!

wrap wire around end of scarf...

place metal tip over end and wire...

Voila....

Not bad, not bad at all!! So, for under $3 bucks I got a custom scarf that rivals any fancy one I saw, but without a fancy price.

DT tile mirror~DIY

Ever since my picture was broken in the stairway of my home, I've been on the look out for a cheap thrifty alternative. I finally found what I was looking for at my ole trusty Dollar Tree!! I found some 8 1/2X11 mirrors for $1 each and got to work.

 This is what I started with...

I laid them out on the floor how I wanted,

As you can see, I had a little help

I positioned the mirrors the way I wanted...

Got out my duck tape and taped it up...

 Here is the final product...

I loved how it turned out and was even more impressed with the price

of eight dollars for eight mirrors...Gotta love dollar tree!!!

Well it's been a while since I've DIY'd anything.(Is that even a word?) I've been wanting a pair of leopard flats for a hot minute. But because I'm broke thrifty, I just used what I had. So I got out the ole' stash and got to work on some old flats, because free is soooo much better!!

I just eye balled it...

then cut out my piece...

then smooth it over the tips of my shoes 

and trimmed the edges...

Oh Yeeeaahhhh!!! (In my cool-aide man voice)

You could cover the whole shoe if you want, but I'm short 

and my pants always cover my shoes except the tips.

These turned out super cute 

and the best part of all was IT WAS FREE!!!

As you already know, Free is so Me!!

DIY scarf top

I have been eying those scarf tops and I just really want one! But instead of buying one, I decided to make one myself. I didn't have a large square scarf, so I did have to buy one, but it only cost 1.99 at Goodwill. Let's get started...

The scarf I started with...

fold in half...

I hand sewn at the 5in mark...

I cut a slit at the top and trimmed with ribbon...

Here's the final product...

I loved how it turned out! I love even more that only a few stitches were needed to make this top. Total price was only 1.99 plus ribbon I already had. But if you have a large square scarf, this could be free! So go ahead, grab a scarf and get creating!!

crop denim jacket

I've been wanting a crop denim jacket for months now. Since you guys know that I'm cheap thrifty, I got to work creating my own from two jackets I got for $3.99 each at Goodwill. So, I was able to create two cropped denim jackets for under ten dollars. I have a lighter weight one for spring/summer and one heavier one for fall/winter. Let's get to it!!

 The original had embroidering, so I cropped that part out.

That way it could match more of my clothing.

I folded it to where I wanted, then pinned and began sewing 

I also removed the ribbon, so it could match more of my clothing.

(I saved it for later projects)

 All done, my new light weight crop denim jacket!!!

I was inspired to create a heavier one using the same method.

DIY bracelet holder

I have accumulated several bracelets over the last month and had no idea where to store them. I'm not a bracelet person, per se, but my part time job requires a lot of accessories.... So, I had to get cheap creative to make a home for them. I went looking for what I already had and got to work!!

and a bow to dress it up a little...

FINISHED!!!

Just added my bracelets and still room to grow. 

The base can also be used to hold wrap and clasp watches/bracelets too.

citrus vinegar cleaner

I found a great way to add a fresh smell to my natural vinegar cleaner. I have been cleaning with vinegar for about three years or more. The smell goes away once it dries but I wanted a nice smell right away. I still didn't want to go back to using chemicals either to get a fragrance. So, I stumbled upon a concoction I found on Pinterest. You add orange peels or any other citrus peels to a jar of vinegar and let sit for two weeks sealed. It works!!! It has a nice, natural, chemical free smell and it still cleans great! After it sits for two weeks, just add half water and half citrus vinegar to a bottle and clean away. My home is clean and smells wonderful, just in time for spring cleaning!

sleeve revamp

I have this short sleeve blazer that is tight in the sleeve. I can fit it, but I hate the snug fit when it is buttoned. So, I usually leave it unbuttoned in order to be comfortable. I got an idea to change it up a bit to make it more comfortable to wear.

 Now it fits perfect and I even have extra room!!

This was a stash busting project, so I will eventually buy dark brown thread

and resew the bows.

DIY hemmed jeans

You may or may not can tell this, but I'm a shortie! Yes I'm only 5'2-5'3 or something of that nature. Really, when it under 5'5 does the exact measurement really matter anymore...lol But bringing it back on topic, store bought pants rarely ever fit my height. I usually end up with ruined hems where I've stepped on them constantly, especially when it rains. So, instead of paying for a tailor or dry cleaner to hem them, I got to work on researching how I could possibly do it. And I found several vids, pics and articles on how to do it for free at home. Cuz free is so me!!

Step 1: Fold and measure.

Pin and try on to make sure the length works before you sew. 

(This I didn't do and had to resew one leg.)

I sewn the top and cut off 2 inches

Fold down and you're done

All done and a perfect fit for me!

I found doing it this way is perfect for people who don't sew very. You can also use a sewing machine or hand sew, like I did. Because you keep the professional finished hem, you can't tell where your hem is. And best of all it is free!

Trench Coat Refashion

I found this London Fog double breasted trench coat for $5 at my local thrift store, it retails for around $275! It was too good of a deal to pass up and it had the removable lining zipped inside. This is perfect for taking me through winter, fall and early spring. Although our winters feel more like fall anyway, here in the south. But I digress, the only problem was it was way too long and I wanted to make it more feminine. So, I got to work refashioning it for free. Free is so me!!

I cut the length, plus the lining...

Oh what the heck, I might as well say it...

It turned out great!!

 With the extra fabric, I created a bow that has a button sash down the middle.

It just adds a feminine touch to it.

PJs to Scarf

I've been wanting a leopard scarf to wear this winter. As you guys know I always try to spend as less as possible. So, when my daughter outgrew her pj's I ran to get my scissors to make one for free.

Cuz free is so me!!

I cut the seams and lay it flat

Then cut strips in the ends to create fringes

Now I have a free leopard scarf!!!

I even have a lot of left over fabric for other projects like this necklace

that I created from 2 lost earrings here. I'm sure I'll come up with some other purrfect ways to use the rest of it....lol

earring to necklace

Going through my junk drawer with all my lost earrings, I got a great idea!! I decided to try to put these pieces to use by making a necklace. So I gathered my supplies and got to work.

(pssst...this would be a great chic gift idea!!)
